Entain<\/strong> is looking to sell its Australian venues business, which includes the market-leading pub poker operator Australian Poker League (APL) <\/strong>and its fast-growing trivia business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Australian Financial Review, Entain filed preliminary sale documents with private equity firms on Monday. The aim is to offload non-core assets and focus on growing its Australian sports betting brands Ladbrokes<\/strong> and Neds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move comes despite the APL dominating the Australian pub poker market, with projected revenues of almost AUS$13 million (US$8.6 million)<\/strong> in 2025. The league runs smaller poker tournaments throughout the week in around 1,200 pubs and clubs<\/strong>, as well as major tournament series through the APL Tour and a popular annual tournament in Queensland called the APL Million<\/strong>. The latest APL Million concluded a few days ago, with a record prize pool of almost AUS$16 million (US$10.6 million)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entain’s Australian trivia division has a player base of 451,000<\/strong> registered and is projected to generate AUS$4.3 million (US$2.8 million)<\/strong> in revenue in 2025, the AFR says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non-binding pre-bids are due in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entain acquired APL operator Full House Group<\/strong> in 2023 and controls 45% of Australia’s pub poker market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
