{"id":10754,"date":"2025-09-12T09:10:43","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T08:10:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=10754"},"modified":"2025-09-12T09:10:48","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T08:10:48","slug":"podcast-review-imeda-imedashvili-on-building-heropicks-games-and-the-evolution-of-fantasy-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/09\/12\/podcast-review-imeda-imedashvili-on-building-heropicks-games-and-the-evolution-of-fantasy-sports\/","title":{"rendered":"Podcast Review: Imeda Imedashvili on Building Heropicks Games and the Evolution of Fantasy Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the 12th episode of<em> iGaming Accent<\/em>, host <strong>Vakho Mdivani<\/strong> welcomes <strong>Imeda Imedashvili<\/strong>, co-founder of <strong>Heropicks Games<\/strong>, for a candid conversation about startup life, the challenges of building a B2B fantasy sports platform, and the ever-changing landscape of daily fantasy sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imeda\u2019s journey into iGaming was, as he puts it, \u201cpure chance.\u201d A lifelong sports fan, he recalls, \u201cOne of my friends suggested me for a job where they were looking for somebody with sports knowledge\u2026 My pure love for sports and not being able to become a professional player in any capacity made this the closest thing to sports for me.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After years in marketing, Imeda transitioned from the operator side to co-founding a startup in the daily fantasy sports vertical. \u201cStartup life is very interesting\u2026 You realize that if you\u2019re not going to do it, nobody else is going to do it for you.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He describes the early days as \u201cstepping into unknown territory,\u201d with long hours, sleepless nights, and constant self-doubt. \u201cThe biggest challenge was just telling myself, \u2018You are on the right track. Keep going.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Securing the first client was, as Imeda says, \u201cthe hardest one.\u201d He credits a mix of luck and leveraging personal contacts: \u201cIn the beginning, you are nobody. Nobody wants to listen to you\u2026 We got lucky that our first client was very keen on innovation.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That first client remains with Heropicks to this day, helping shape the product through feedback and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussing the state of the fantasy sports industry, Imeda observes a global surge in interest: \u201cFantasy was considered a purely North American product a couple of years ago. Now it\u2019s becoming popular everywhere in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest operational challenges is data accuracy. \u201cFantasy is a data-driven game. If your data is wrong, everything is wrong.\u201d Imeda shares that Heropicks had to switch data providers to ensure integrity and granularity, even going so far as to track stats during games to verify accuracy manually.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe watched games, took notes, and double-checked the stats with our provider. That\u2019s how we arrived at our current scoring system.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to KPIs for fantasy games, Imeda highlights acquisition and retention: \u201cWe always suggest to our clients to leverage this product as an acquisition and retention tool.
