{"id":11013,"date":"2025-10-07T09:21:41","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T08:21:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=11013"},"modified":"2025-10-07T09:21:45","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T08:21:45","slug":"las-vegas-sands-shuts-down-online-gaming-division","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/10\/07\/las-vegas-sands-shuts-down-online-gaming-division\/","title":{"rendered":"Las Vegas Sands Shuts Down Online Gaming Division"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>According to the <strong>Las Vegas Review-Journal<\/strong>, <strong>Las Vegas Sands (LVS)<\/strong> management has concluded that its digital division, <strong>Sands Digital Services (SDS)<\/strong>, \u201cdoes not align with the company\u2019s strategic interests.\u201d The operator will now focus exclusively on its land-based casinos in <strong>Macao<\/strong> and <strong>Singapore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The newspaper is owned by the <strong>Adelson family<\/strong>, including <strong>Dr. Miriam Adelson<\/strong>, LVS\u2019s majority shareholder, and <strong>Patrick Dumont<\/strong>, the company\u2019s President and Chief Operating Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a letter to employees &#8211; reportedly numbering over 300 &#8211; Dumont stated that the <strong>Board of Directors<\/strong> had determined that the continued development of the company\u2019s digital arm \u201cno longer aligns with its long-term objectives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LVS established its digital division in <strong>2021<\/strong> after acquiring assets from <strong>Qbet<\/strong> and completing the sale of <strong>The Venetian<\/strong> and <strong>Palazzo<\/strong> on the Las Vegas Strip to <strong>Apollo Global Management<\/strong> and <strong>Vici Properties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial goal was to stream <strong>live dealer games<\/strong> from the company\u2019s own studio to licensed online gaming jurisdictions. LVS planned to leverage its strong reputation in land-based casino operations, but SDS found itself competing against established market leaders such as <strong>Evolution<\/strong> and <strong>Playtech<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the letter dated 2 October, Dumont said: \u201cThe digital landscape continues to evolve, and technology and innovation will continue to play an important role in our industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a company, we will continue to explore and invest in opportunities that are in the best interests of our shareholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOverall, we remain very fortunate to operate in the two best markets in our industry. Over the past two decades we have set the standard for the investments we have made in our land-based portfolio of properties and the elite level of customer service we have provided our guests.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LVS will now concentrate its efforts on its <strong>Asian operations<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>The Venetian Macao<\/strong> and <strong>Marina Bay Sands<\/strong>, the latter of which is currently undergoing an expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe continually meet and exceed the commitments we have made to our host markets in Macao and Singapore,\u201d added Dumont.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur dedication to our business partners and local communities remains an important part of our identity, as does our commitment to being the most shareholder friendly company in the gaming and hospitality industry.
