{"id":11735,"date":"2025-12-10T08:22:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T08:22:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=11735"},"modified":"2025-12-10T08:22:51","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T08:22:51","slug":"joao-studart-and-eduardo-monte-take-over-flutter-brazil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/12\/10\/joao-studart-and-eduardo-monte-take-over-flutter-brazil\/","title":{"rendered":"Jo\u00e3o Studart and Eduardo Monte Take Over Flutter Brazil"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Flutter Entertainment Plc<\/strong> has revamped the leadership of its Brazil unit to drive the growth and market share of its portfolio of brands &#8211; <strong>Betfair, Betnacional<\/strong> and <strong>PokerStars.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Announced yesterday via LinkedIn, the group confirmed the appointment of <strong>Jo\u00e3o Studart<\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>as Chairman of <strong>Flutter Brazil<\/strong> and <strong>Eduardo Monte<\/strong> as the company\u2019s new CEO, in what it described as a \u201cnatural evolution\u201d of its operations in one of the world\u2019s most dynamic regulated betting markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Studart, formerly Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, will oversee the strategic consolidation of the business and lead Flutter\u2019s institutional engagement across Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monte\u2019s focus will be on strengthening corporate visibility and maintaining full regulatory alignment with Flutter International\u2019s global framework. He has been promoted from the position Chief Operating Officer of, and assumes responsibility for the day-to-day running of Flutter Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reporting directly to <strong>Dan Taylor,<\/strong> CEO of Flutter International, Monte will guide the company through its \u201cnext phase of expansion &#8211; combining local market insight with the group\u2019s international expertise and operational standards.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leadership changes come during a year of significant structural reform for Flutter Entertainment, which in 2025 reorganised its global operations into two principal businesses of <strong>Flutter US (FanDuel)<\/strong> and <strong>Flutter International<\/strong> (ROW brands).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move was designed to simplify management and provide greater transparency and clear visibility for shareholders across the NYSE and LSE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brazil has become a strategic focus for Flutter International. A key initiative will see Betnacional upgraded to the group\u2019s proprietary <strong>Flutter Edge<\/strong> platform, following Flutter\u2019s $350m acquisition of a 56% stake in the brand in 2024. The migration aims to accelerate Betnacional\u2019s position as a \u201clocal champion\u201d while leveraging Flutter\u2019s global technology and data ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, 2025 has also brought financial headwinds. Flutter reported statutory losses of <strong>$790m in Q3<\/strong>, largely driven by <strong>$500m<\/strong> in impairments following the closure of its <strong>Junglee India<\/strong> business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Brazil, the company faces additional fiscal challenges as the PT government moves ahead with a graduated GGR tax increase &#8211; <strong>rising from 12% to 15% by 2027, and to 18% by 2028<\/strong>. Flutter is closely monitoring the phased rollout and its potential impact on local operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these pressures, the group maintains confidence in the long-term prospects of the Brazilian market.
