{"id":12278,"date":"2026-02-17T07:12:30","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T07:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=12278"},"modified":"2026-02-17T07:12:35","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T07:12:35","slug":"super-strengthens-its-presence-in-the-romanian-market-through-the-acquisition-of-maxbet-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/02\/17\/super-strengthens-its-presence-in-the-romanian-market-through-the-acquisition-of-maxbet-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Super Strengthens Its Presence in the Romanian Market Through the Acquisition of Maxbet Online"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Super Technologies,<\/strong> the rebranded corporate entity of <strong>Superbet<\/strong>, has secured terms to acquire <strong>Maxbet<\/strong> Online to become the definitive market leader within Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The takeover follows a transformative 2025 for the company in which it established a strong foothold in Brazil\u2019s nascent betting market while adopting its new moniker of <strong>\u2018Super\u2019<\/strong> at the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By acquiring Maxbet Online and <strong>Maxbet Malta<\/strong>, the firm has significantly expanded its reach and visibility in its home market of Romania and across the wider Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region, where competition has been heating up in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adam Lamentowicz,<\/strong> Chief Commercial Officer CEE at Super, said: \u201cThe acquisition of Maxbet aligns with our consolidation strategy in the CEE region and strengthens our ability to build a competitive entertainment ecosystem tailored to the expectations of customers in each market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRomania is a key pillar of our growth strategy, and this transaction enables us to accelerate both operational and commercial development through a diversified brand portfolio and a well-defined customer community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025, Super secured \u20ac1.3bn ($1.4bn) in guaranteed capital financing from Blackstone. The PE giant backed the Super to accelerate its expansion strategy across Romania, consolidating its leadership in its home market, while scaling operations across other CEE jurisdictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maxbet Online was founded in 2015 as an online sportsbook targeting the Romanian betting market. Though its branding is similar, it is not part of the Serbian-based Maxbet group, which is active in Serbia, Republika Srpska, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Super\u2019s big push amid Romania\u2019s regulatory review&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEE has become increasingly competitive over the past few years. Notable market incomers include <strong>Flutter Entertainment <\/strong>via its takeover of a 51% stake in the abovementioned Serbian Maxbet and <strong>Entain<\/strong> via its takeover of Croatia\u2019s SuperSport in 2022, while <strong>Fortuna Entertainment Group <\/strong>(FEG) is also a major contender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Super revealed that the takeover agreement was signed earlier this week, but both parties are keeping financial terms confidential at this point. The transaction is also still subject to approval by <strong>Romania\u2019s Competition Council.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Manuel Bauer<\/strong>, Chief Executive Officer of Maxbet Online, said: \u201cRomania is one of the most competitive gaming markets in Europe, and reaching this point reflects a period of focused execution, continuous improvement and dedication at Maxbet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIntegration into the Super Group marks the next phase of that evolution. Combined with Super\u2019s resources and technology platform, and our joint operational expertise, Maxbet brings proven local execution and deep product experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis reinforces the foundations of the Maxbet brand and enables us to further elevate the experience for our customers across both digital and retail, while ensuring continuity, stability, and long-term opportunity for our people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Super\u2019s takeover of Maxbet will see the Romanian further market consolidate ahead of a pledged review of the country\u2019s <em>Games of Chance Law<\/em>.
