{"id":12308,"date":"2026-02-19T07:50:33","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T07:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=12308"},"modified":"2026-02-19T07:50:37","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T07:50:37","slug":"immense-group-announces-its-entry-into-the-finnish-market-and-appoints-a-managing-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/02\/19\/immense-group-announces-its-entry-into-the-finnish-market-and-appoints-a-managing-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Immense Group Announces Its Entry Into the Finnish Market and Appoints a Managing Director"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Mr Vegas<\/strong> and <strong>DBET<\/strong> owner <strong>Immense Group<\/strong> has appointed <strong>Joonas Karhu<\/strong> as Managing Director \u2013 Finland, as iGaming operators flock to the country\u00a0ahead of its 2027 gambling market.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Karhu returns to the company after leaving nearly a decade ago, having previously served as Immense Group\u2019s Country Manager for Finland between 2016-2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After he departed, he co-founded gambling comparison website <strong>Bojoko<\/strong>, before it was acquired by global sports media company <strong>North Star\u00a0Network<\/strong> in February 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He transitioned into the role of Head of Casino at North Star but left at the end of last year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based in Helsinki, Karhu will oversee Immense Group\u2019s strategic activities in Finland, supporting partnership development, media engagement and long-term market positioning for the group\u2019s casino and betting brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pleased to be returning to Immense Group at an important point in its development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe group has built a strong portfolio of brands and a clear position in regulated markets. Finland offers meaningful long-term potential, and my focus will be on building strong partnerships, strengthening our local presence and supporting sustainable growth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI look forward to reconnecting with colleagues and engaging with partners across the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An Immense Finnish opportunity?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The appointment strengthens the Malta-based firm\u2019s investment in Nordic markets and Karhu will lead the company\u2019s preparation work ahead of Finland\u2019s forthcoming licensing framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Karhu\u2019s previous role with the company suggests, Immense has had interests in the Finnish market for some time. The rules around offshore companies and Finnish betting are rather mixed on this matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finns can legally access websites outside the Veikkaus Oy monopoly, but these companies cannot directly target Finnish customers, such as with Finnish-language marketing.
