The property, acquired through the UK subsidiary for just under \u00a328\u202fmillion ($38.1\u202fmillion), strengthened the company\u2019s already successful portfolio in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, revenue from UK and Egypt operations reached MYR\u202f523\u202fmillion ($134\u202fmillion), confirming the effectiveness of the diversification strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Malaysian Authorities Tighten Control Over Online Gambling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite operators expanding assets and increasing activity, the potential for engaging Malaysian users remains high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country\u2019s regulators are beginning to clamp down on the rapidly growing illegal gambling market. The plan to tighten enforcement was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister following revelations about the scale of online gaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Active measures by <strong>Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof<\/strong> could reduce the shadow market and create new opportunities for legal operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGambling in Malaysia is strictly regulated: only one casino \u2014 <strong>Resorts World Genting<\/strong> \u2014 and certain types of sports betting in retail outlets are permitted. All forms of online gaming remain prohibited.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the proposed measures highlight the scale of the black market.
