{"id":12917,"date":"2026-05-06T12:43:02","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T11:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=12917"},"modified":"2026-05-06T12:43:04","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T11:43:04","slug":"veikkaus-strengthens-its-leadership-ilkka-kosola-appointed-cfo-as-part-of-a-major-transformation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/05\/06\/veikkaus-strengthens-its-leadership-ilkka-kosola-appointed-cfo-as-part-of-a-major-transformation\/","title":{"rendered":"Veikkaus Strengthens Its Leadership: Ilkka Kosola Appointed CFO as Part of a Major Transformation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Veikkaus<\/strong> has appointed <strong>Ilkka Kosola<\/strong> as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), who will be tasked with overseeing the regulatory transformation of Finland\u2019s gambling market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kosola will take up the role at the end of September 2026, joining the executive management to transform Veikkaus ahead of Finland\u2019s transition to a multi-licence online gambling regime, which is expected to be initiated at the start of next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The regulatory reform, which first began in 2024, will see the Finnish government dismantle elements of the monopoly privileges granted to Veikkaus, with the operator no longer serving as the exclusive operator of online gambling in Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His appointment is directly linked to Veikkaus\u2019 2030 strategy, which sets out ambitions to transform the group into a more agile, commercially competitive and internationally credible operator.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Central to this strategy will be tighter financial control, improved capital efficiency and the ability to execute structural change \u2014 areas where Kosola is expected to take a leading role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEO <strong>Olli Sarekoski <\/strong>emphasised the importance of the hire. He said: \u201cIlkka\u2019s broad and international experience in leading finance and IT functions, combined with his proven ability to drive change and execute strategic transactions, makes him an excellent fit for Veikkaus as we navigate this period of significant transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are confident that his expertise will be a great asset to our company and our executive management team as we work towards our strategic goals for 2030.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kosola joins from <strong>Reaktor<\/strong>, where he served as Group CFO, and has previously held senior roles at <strong>Adven Group, TietoEVRY, Basware <\/strong>and <strong>Fortum<\/strong>.
