William Hill <\/strong>owner evoke<\/strong> has appointed Janice Duncan<\/strong> as Group Finance Director while rumours around a potential takeover continue to swirl.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duncan, who joins after leaving her role as Chief Financial Officer at Casumo<\/strong>, brings 13 years’ worth of experience in the industry to the LSE<\/strong>-listed business, including in roles at William Hill.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She started her career in banking, holding various positions at National Australia Group<\/strong> before joining the Royal Bank of Scotland<\/strong> and later RBC Insurance<\/strong>, which is now Direct Line Group. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duncan then made the switch into the iGaming industry in 2013, spending nearly five years at Coral<\/strong> and then joining William Hill in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After rising up the ranks to become the company\u2019s Finance Director in 2019, she left at the end of 2020 to join Rank Interactive<\/strong> as Chief Financial Officer, meaning any of her work there predates evoke\u2019s 2022 acquisition of Hills\u2019 assets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duncan spent two years at Rank Interactive before joining Casumo in 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fresh rumours at evoke <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The news of Duncan\u2019s appointment comes at a critical time for evoke, which has a week left to make a decision regarding a takeover offer from Bally\u2019s Intralot.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in April, evoke confirmed that it was \u201cin discussions with Bally\u2019s Intralot regarding a possible offer for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of the Company at a price of 50 pence ($0.65) per share\u201d, or a total fee of around \u00a3225m (~$286m).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The business, which also owns the 888<\/strong> and Mr Green<\/strong> brands, bought William Hill for \u00a32.2bn ($2.8m) in 2022 back when it was known as 888 Holdings<\/strong>.\u00a0 A sale of the entirety of evoke for \u00a3225m would be seen as a catastrophic loss.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A deadline of 18 May was issued for this, but on that day, evoke announced an extension of the deadline to 8 June as talks continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One major talking point regarding a deal has been the debt which the combined entity would undertake \u2014 \u00a31.9bn ($2.4bn)\u00a0 from evoke and \u00a31.5bn ($1.9bn)\u00a0 from Bally\u2019s Intralot \u2014 which would be around \u00a33.4bn ($4.3bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That issue may be one that is being addressed right now, and, according to Sky News<\/em> this morning, a subsidiary of private equity firm TPG<\/strong> is set to commit up to \u00a3800m ($1.01bn) to finance the takeover.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financing from TPG Credit<\/strong> could make a potential deal more viable, though its owner did decline to provide comment to Sky News <\/em>regarding the situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also comes as evoke continues its plight on the LSE. The business initially made an offer for William Hill back in September 2021, when its shares were trading at around the \u00a34 mark ($5.05).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, it holds a share price of just 38.4p ($0.49) and a market cap of \u00a3170.7m ($216m) and many are suggesting that a sale, even at this low of a price relatively speaking, could be the best way forward for evoke. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever happens, it is safe to say that Duncan will be busy almost immediately at the business as we await confirmation on the Bally\u2019s Intralot proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
