{"id":13235,"date":"2026-06-15T13:10:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T12:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=13235"},"modified":"2026-06-15T13:10:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T12:10:14","slug":"dutch-authorities-tighten-online-gambling-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/06\/15\/dutch-authorities-tighten-online-gambling-regulations\/","title":{"rendered":"Dutch Authorities Tighten Online Gambling Regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Dutch government<\/strong> is planning another wave of restrictions on online gambling, targeting advertising, deposits, and the illegal market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This builds on a series of regulatory changes over the four years since the 2021 <strong>Remote Gaming Act (KOA) <\/strong>was adopted, notably including a significant rollback of advertising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advertising will now be completely banned if State Secretary for Legal Protection <strong>Claudia van Bruggen\u2019s<\/strong> proposals are given the green light by the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heading up the Cabinet\u2019s approach to minimising gambling harm, van Burggen has proposed the following measures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A total ban on online gambling advertising<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A total ban on bonuses such as free bets when creating an account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating an overarching deposit limit for online gambling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Further enhancing the CRUKS self-exclusion system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clamping down on illegal activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI find it particularly concerning that more and more people, and especially young people, have started gambling online and are getting into trouble as a result,\u201d said van Bruggen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is high time to reverse this trend.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government is moving to put these plans into a legislative proposal, while van Bruggen also works on a \u2018Multi Year Agenda for Protection against Gambling Damage\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This agenda will include raising awareness among gamblers, combating what the government calls a \u201cnormalisation of gambling\u201d, cultivating a safer gambling environment, facilitating early detection of gambling harm and creating better access to help for problem gamblers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the proposed measures, I am taking an important step to better protect people against the negative effects of gambling, such as addiction and debt,\u201d van Burggen continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSpecial attention is being paid to young people and young adults because they are particularly vulnerable to the risks of gambling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to subscribe to our <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/sbceurasia\">Telegram channel<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Dutch government is planning another wave of restrictions on online gambling, targeting advertising, deposits, and the illegal market.
