{"id":13706,"date":"2026-08-06T09:41:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T08:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=13706"},"modified":"2026-08-06T09:41:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T08:41:22","slug":"peter-jackson-steps-down-as-flutter-ceo-dan-taylor-to-take-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/08\/06\/peter-jackson-steps-down-as-flutter-ceo-dan-taylor-to-take-over\/","title":{"rendered":"Peter Jackson Steps Down as Flutter CEO, Dan Taylor to Take Over"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Peter Jackson <\/strong>will step down as Chief Executive Officer of<strong> Flutter Entertainment, <\/strong>with<strong> Dan Taylor <\/strong>set to succeed him<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His departure comes amid a colossal fall off in Flutter\u2019s share price on the <strong>NYSE, <\/strong>with its stock down 51% year-to-date from $218 per share at the start of 2026 to just $104 as of 4 August 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jackson will step down from the CEO role and from Flutter\u2019s board on 30 September, with Taylor assuming the CEO role and joining the board on 1 October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The departure brings an end to over eight years of leadership. He first took on the CEO position at <strong>Paddy Power Betfair<\/strong> in January 2018.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The early stages of his tenure were marked by the acquisition of <strong>FanDuel<\/strong> in May 2018, announced shortly after the US Supreme Court repealed <strong>PASPA<\/strong> and opened the door to regulated sports betting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company subsequently rebranded as Flutter Entertainment in May 2019, and in May 2020 expanded its portfolio even further with the $6bn acquisition of <strong>The Stars Group<\/strong>, operator of <strong>PokerStars.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under Jackson\u2019s tenure, Flutter amassed the most formidable brand portfolio in the modern betting industry with market leaders <strong>FanDuel<\/strong> (US), <strong>Sky Be<\/strong>t (UK), <strong>Paddy Power <\/strong>(UK and Ireland), <strong>Sisal <\/strong>and <strong>Snaitech<\/strong> (Italy), <strong>Adjarabet <\/strong>(Georgia) and <strong>Betnational<\/strong> (Brazil), among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The peak came in 2025 when Flutter achieved the status of the world\u2019s most valuable publicly listed gambling company with a price of over $300 per share and market cap of between $36bn-$42bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting on his leadership tenure, Jackson said that it \u201chas been such a privilege to lead Flutter\u2019s transformation\u201d into the multinational gambling monolith described above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFlutter is a fantastic business, with a portfolio of world-class brands, talented colleagues and genuine competitive advantages,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Taylor takes on Flutter\u2019s big tasks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jackson\u2019s replacement, Taylor, is also a long-serving executive at the company, having served in executive roles at Paddy Power Betfair before joining Flutter\u2019s group-level executive team in 2020 as President of Flutter International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His forthcoming promotion to Group CEO is his second this year, following his appointment as President and CEO of Flutter International in May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This followed the revelation that <strong>Amy Howe,<\/strong> long-time CEO of FanDuel, would be vacating the position at Flutter\u2019s largest brand and one of the two biggest sportsbooks in the US alongside DraftKings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Flutter International CEO, and previously as its President between July 2020 and May 2026, Taylor oversaw Flutter\u2019s non-US assets in key markets such as the UK, Italy and Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jackson praised his successor\u2019s \u201cability to grow businesses, build strong teams and deliver exceptional results\u201d, stating that he has seen these capabilities \u201cfirst hand\u201d and has \u201cgreat confidence\u201d in the company\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taylor takes over a business under a lot of pressure, with its market cap having fallen from the lofty highs of 2025 while also finding itself competing in a new sector in the US prediction markets space and facing regulatory and financial pressures in international markets, like a new tax regime in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m delighted to take on the role of Group Chief Executive Officer at such an important time for Flutter,\u201d Taylor remarked. \u201cOur priority will be to keep delivering for our colleagues, customers and shareholders, while building on the momentum we\u2019ve created across the business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe opportunities ahead are significant \u2013 both those we see in the market today and those we will create ourselves in the future.
