{"id":13931,"date":"2026-09-04T08:48:40","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T07:48:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=13931"},"modified":"2026-09-04T08:48:42","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T07:48:42","slug":"entain-confirmed-to-exit-ftse-100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/09\/04\/entain-confirmed-to-exit-ftse-100\/","title":{"rendered":"Entain Confirmed to Exit FTSE 100"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The FTSE Russell <\/strong>has confirmed that <strong>Entain<\/strong> will drop off the <strong>FTSE 100 <\/strong>Index following a stark drop in its market cap.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">City analysts had expected this to happen as the <strong>Ladbrokes Coral <\/strong>owner\u2019s \u00a33.31m market cap is now the lowest on the FTSE 100.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entain, alongside housebuilding company <strong>Persimmon,<\/strong> will be deleted from the index at the close of play on 18 September and enter the <strong>FTSE 250 <\/strong>\u2013 London\u2019s 101st-350th biggest listed firms \u2013 on 21 September. The duo will be replaced by oil and gas firm <strong>Ithaca Energy <\/strong>and low-cost airline <strong>EasyJet.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The firm\u2019s shares have been gradually declining for over a year, with increased taxes in its home market of the UK likely among several factors dissuading investors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of July, <strong>BetMGM,<\/strong> which is co-owned by Entain and <strong>MGM Resorts International, <\/strong>revealed that it expects full-year net revenue and adjusted EBITDA to come in at the lower end of its guidance ranges.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That led to another sizable decline in Entain\u2019s stock and may have been the final nail in the coffin of the firm\u2019s FTSE 100 journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It brings to an end a six-year chapter on the London Stock Exchange\u2019s premium index for Entain, which joined the FTSE 100 in June 2020.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A year later, the group\u2019s stock more than doubled from around \u00a37.60 to \u00a318 as the picture being painted for gambling PLCs was fairly positive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entain\u2019s stock peaked at \u00a321.56 in October 2021 but, nearly five years later, it sits at \u00a35.23 following a share price slump of over 75% in that time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Entain leadership will look for a bounceback<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nevertheless, leadership remains positive despite a fairly bleak period for the UK betting sector.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company recently beat H1 expectations \u2013 net gaming revenues rose 5% to \u00a32.55bn as Entain reaped the rewards from the early stages of the 2026 World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief Financial Officer <strong>Michael Snape<\/strong> has confirmed that the business is eating up market share as mid-tier operators struggle to mitigate the impact of the 21% to 40% rise in Remote Gaming Duty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, that rise also contributed to Entain\u2019s corporate tax charge jumping to \u00a357.8m from \u00a319.5m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The firm has sent continuous warnings to policymakers and sporting bodies on these shores about the impact of the burgeoning black market, which continues to benefit from more stringent regulation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite shop closures and a widening net loss figure \u2013 which increased to \u00a3681m in FY25 \u2013 leadership will be laser-focused on increasing market share and recovering a plummeting share price as Entain aims to make its FTSE 100 Index relegation a brief one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t forget to subscribe to our <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/sbceurasia\">Telegram channel<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The FTSE Russell has confirmed that Entain will drop off the FTSE 100 Index following a stark drop in its market cap.&nbsp; City analysts had expected this to happen as the Ladbrokes Coral owner\u2019s \u00a33.31m market cap is now the lowest on the FTSE 100.&nbsp; Entain, alongside housebuilding company Persimmon, will be deleted from the [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":12904,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"tdm_status":"","tdm_grid_status":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5,1],"tags":[324,2484,17107,2566,14956],"class_list":["post-13931","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-gambling","category-news","tag-entain","tag-ftse-100","tag-ftse-russell","tag-ladbrokes-coral","tag-michael-snape"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
