{"id":14015,"date":"2026-09-15T12:21:53","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T11:21:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=14015"},"modified":"2026-09-15T12:21:56","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T11:21:56","slug":"dazn-reshapes-leadership-team-to-drive-growth-and-commercial-transformation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/09\/15\/dazn-reshapes-leadership-team-to-drive-growth-and-commercial-transformation\/","title":{"rendered":"DAZN Reshapes Leadership Team to Drive Growth and Commercial Transformation\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAZN<\/strong> has announced major changes to its C-level executive team as it seeks to advance key commercial projects and align the strategic development of its changed portfolio of group assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The global OTT sports and entertainment group announced three changes to its executive leadership supporting Group Chief Executive <strong>Shay Segev<\/strong>, effective immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former <strong>Foxtel <\/strong>CEO <strong>Patrick Delany<\/strong> has accepted the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). The appointment is seen as critical, as Delany will spearhead a new operating strategy for an enlarged DAZN following its acquisition of Australian broadcaster Foxtel in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based in London, Delany will hold end-to-end responsibility for DAZN\u2019s daily operations, with a central focus on accelerating subscriber and revenue growth across the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His remit will encompass DAZN\u2019s operational businesses, pricing and packaging, sports rights renewals and relationships with rights holders. Delany will also oversee content production and execution, along with the group\u2019s advertising and sponsorship activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delany brings more than 30 years of experience across sports media and digital subscription businesses. He led Foxtel Group as CEO from 2018, having previously served as CEO of <strong>Fox Sports Australia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In support of DAZN\u2019s acquisition, Delany oversaw Foxtel\u2019s integration into the wider group and the formation of DAZN Australia, whose products reportedly reach one in every two Australian households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside the operational appointment, DAZN will place its financial unit under <strong>Alex Gersh<\/strong>, who joins the group as Chief Financial Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gersh is recognised as a figurehead within the sports betting and iGaming sectors, having previously served as CFO of <strong>Betfair Plc<\/strong> and subsequently<strong> Paddy Power Betfair <\/strong>following a transformative \u00a35bn merger undertaken in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choosing new pastures in 2020, Gersh joined <strong>Sportradar AG<\/strong> as financial officer to spearhead the sports data and intelligence firm\u2019s listing on the Global Nasdaq. DAZN views Gersh as a best-in-class executive to lead its new financial profile to investors and global markets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gersh will lead DAZN\u2019s financial strategy, capital allocation, and group performance, with a further mandate to support long-term value creation and sustainable profitability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The appointment sees <strong>Darren Waterman<\/strong> step down as CFO to take on the newly created position of Chief Business Officer (CBO). Waterman, who had led DAZN\u2019s finance unit since 2022, will now spearhead the group\u2019s strategic commercial projects, global partnerships, distribution agreements and corporate transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DAZN credited Waterman with guiding its finances and corporate development through a period of accelerated expansion, culminating in the company&#8217;s first profitability in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The leadership overhaul follows a transformative period in which DAZN completed its acquisition of Foxtel, delivered global coverage of the FIFA Club World Cup and expanded its technical and commercial capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2026, the group announced acquisitions of <strong>ViewLift<\/strong> and <strong>EverPass<\/strong>, renewed premium sports rights across its core markets, and integrated FIFA+ into its global platform.
