{"id":14133,"date":"2026-09-29T09:03:40","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T08:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=14133"},"modified":"2026-09-29T09:03:44","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T08:03:44","slug":"the-star-gold-coast-licence-suspension-deferred-until-march-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/09\/29\/the-star-gold-coast-licence-suspension-deferred-until-march-2027\/","title":{"rendered":"The Star Gold Coast Licence Suspension Deferred Until March 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Star Entertainment Group\u2019s<\/strong> licence suspension for <strong>The Star Gold Coast <\/strong>has been deferred until 31 March 2027 by the Queensland Government to allow the operator to continue making progress with outstanding commitments from its remediation plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, while the operator has been given a lifeline with the deferral, it has also been warned that \u2018immediate action\u2019 will be taken if it fails to deliver on its obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following consideration of the latest independent advice from Special Manager <strong>Nicholas Weeks,<\/strong> as well as The Star\u2019s progress in addressing outstanding remediation requirements, the deferral of the licence suspension has been extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Star Gold Coast\u2019s licence was due to be suspended for 90 days from 30 September, but the government acknowledged Weeks\u2019 August report, as \u2018significant progress across its key remediation and reform initiatives\u2019 had been made, including organisational and financial reforms, while several priority remediation matters remain in progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Queensland Attorney General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity <strong>Deb Frecklington <\/strong>noted that the government will continue to monitor the progress of The Star\u2019s remediation efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Frecklington said: \u201cWe have continued to set clear expectations for The Star to ensure the utmost integrity of Queensland\u2019s casino operations. Those expectations remain unchanged, and while I acknowledge the work of The Star to date, this extension will allow The Star to further demonstrate its delivery on key remediation commitments under the agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cQueenslanders can have full confidence that we will take immediate action if The Star fails to deliver on its obligations.
