{"id":14139,"date":"2026-09-29T12:01:54","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T11:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=14139"},"modified":"2026-09-29T12:01:57","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T11:01:57","slug":"armenia-to-tighten-rules-on-the-use-of-gambling-related-terms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/09\/29\/armenia-to-tighten-rules-on-the-use-of-gambling-related-terms\/","title":{"rendered":"Armenia to Tighten Rules on the Use of Gambling-Related Terms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Armenia will tighten the rules for companies that use gambling-related terms in their names and branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting from February 8, 2027, companies without the relevant Armenian gambling licence will be prohibited from using terms such as \u201cgambling,\u201d \u201ccasino,\u201d \u201cgaming hall,\u201d \u201conline gambling,\u201d \u201clottery,\u201d and \u201cbookmaking activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the <strong>State Revenue Committee of Armenia<\/strong>, the restrictions will also apply to the terms \u201cbetting office\u201d and \u201ctotalizator,\u201d as well as derivatives of these terms and their translations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new requirements will apply not only to companies\u2019 official names. Unlicensed organisations will also be prohibited from using gambling-related terminology in trade names and trademarks, website names, and signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each violation will be subject to a fine of AMD 500,000 (approximately $1,400). The Committee recommends that companies review their existing names and branding in advance and make any necessary changes to comply with the new rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new measures are part of a broader effort to strengthen oversight of Armenia\u2019s gambling market.
