{"id":14228,"date":"2026-10-09T08:22:07","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T07:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=14228"},"modified":"2026-10-09T08:22:15","modified_gmt":"2026-10-09T07:22:15","slug":"france-expands-oversight-of-online-gambling-advertising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/10\/09\/france-expands-oversight-of-online-gambling-advertising\/","title":{"rendered":"France Expands Oversight of Online Gambling Advertising"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">French authorities have agreed to expand the supervisory framework of advertising duties for online gambling licences granted by <strong>the Autorit\u00e9 Nationale des Jeux (ANJ).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pascal Chevremont, <\/strong>the new President of the ANJ, announced the signing of a new cooperation agreement after meeting with <strong>Christine Albanel,<\/strong> President of <strong>the Autorit\u00e9 de R\u00e9gulation Professionnelle de la Publicit\u00e9 (ARPP),<\/strong> France\u2019s independent advertising control body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two organisations have worked in partnership since 2023, entering their first \u2018cooperative pact\u2019 to ensure the supervision of gambling advertising campaigns in France and their engagement with the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The partnership sees the ARPP serve as the independent monitor of online gambling advertising campaigns, ensuring marketing and content align with the ANJ&#8217;s advertising charter rules.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The charter requires online gambling licence holders to submit advertising and marketing campaign plans six months in advance for review and approval by the ANJ. The regulator assesses plans against ARPP guidelines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>JONUM duties added to pact&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of 2026 onwards, the pact will cover the objectives of <strong>JONUM,<\/strong> the new regulatory project of the ANJ for the \u201cgovernance of online games with monetizable utilities\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The JONUM project launched at the start of 2026 as a regulatory initiative to establish common rules for new verticals entering the French online gambling market, including blockchain elements, NFTs, and crypto-assets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pact will now require reporting on the following JONUM provisions:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ANJ involvement in strengthening the gambling component of ARPP\u2019s Responsible Commercial Influence Certificate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ARPP participation in the ANJ\u2019s review of the voluntary advertising charters covering television, radio, outdoor advertising and digital media.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continued information sharing concerning proposed gambling campaigns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The charters supplemented the ANJ\u2019s 2022 advertising guidelines, which prohibit campaigns that present gambling as a route to financial security, social success or an alternative to employment.
