{"id":14353,"date":"2026-10-26T12:45:33","date_gmt":"2026-10-26T12:45:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=14353"},"modified":"2026-10-26T12:45:36","modified_gmt":"2026-10-26T12:45:36","slug":"casinos-austria-appoints-andreas-bierwirth-as-new-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/10\/26\/casinos-austria-appoints-andreas-bierwirth-as-new-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"Casinos Austria Appoints Andreas Bierwirth as New CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Casinos Austria AG<\/strong> has announced a leadership change following the appointment of <strong>Andreas Bierwirth<\/strong> as CEO of the Austrian state-owned company that operates lottery and casino businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bierwirth will take up the position on 14 March 2027, succeeding <strong>Erwin van Lambaart.<\/strong> In addition to leading Casinos Austria, he will also head the board of directors of <strong>Austrian Lotteries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In September, van Lambaart informed the supervisory board that he did not intend to renew his five-year contract, which expires in 2027. Casinos Austria subsequently launched a search for his successor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commenting on his forthcoming departure, van Lambaart said that, amid a changing market environment, a change in leadership would benefit the company and help secure its continued development and growth prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bierwirth joined the executive board of Casinos Austria in 2025. Throughout his career, he has gained considerable experience in implementing strategic transformations at major consumer-facing companies, including <strong>Telekom<\/strong> and <strong>easyJet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the key challenges facing the new CEO will be a major reform of Austria\u2019s gambling legislation. In 2026, the country\u2019s government was compelled to begin developing and implementing a new licensing framework for online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of this process, the European Commission (EC) required Austria\u2019s Ministry of Finance to submit a draft legislative act to the EU\u2019s <strong>Technical Regulations Information System (TRIS).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mandatory notification procedure allows the European Commission and other EU member states to examine proposed technical regulations before they are adopted. The standstill period is due to expire on 5 November, although parliamentary consideration of the document may continue during this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Allwyn Backs Bierwirth\u2019s Appointment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Allwyn International <\/strong>CEO<strong> Robert Chv\u00e1tal,<\/strong> representing Casinos Austria\u2019s majority shareholder, welcomed Andreas Bierwirth\u2019s appointment and thanked Erwin van Lambaart for his contribution to the company\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe would like to express our sincere gratitude to Erwin van Lambaart for his exceptional commitment and dedication.
