{"id":14371,"date":"2026-10-28T08:01:21","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T08:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=14371"},"modified":"2026-10-28T08:01:23","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T08:01:23","slug":"slovakia-launches-university-programme-on-gambling-harm-prevention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2026\/10\/28\/slovakia-launches-university-programme-on-gambling-harm-prevention\/","title":{"rendered":"Slovakia Launches University Programme on Gambling Harm Prevention"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Republic of Slovakia<\/strong> will roll out a new nationwide university program to train healthcare, social, and welfare staff to identify gambling harms and disorders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Regulatory Office for Gambling (URHH)<\/strong> has launched its \u201csixth cooperation agreement\u201d with the Faculty of Education at <strong>Matej Bel University<\/strong> in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica, joining academic partners in Bratislava, Trnava, Nitra and Ko\u0161ice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme will equip future professionals to recognise gambling risks and direct people towards specualised support. Particular attention will be paid to children\u2019s exposure to gambling elements in digital games and emerging online formats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students will attend lectures, workshops, and discussions on gambling regulation, addiction prevention, and responsible gambling. The partnerships will also support academic research, thesis consultations and practical teaching materials for schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe pitfalls of the digital space and the associated risks of losing self-regulation have become an integral part of the life of contemporary society,\u201d said URHH Director General <strong>Libu\u0161a Baranov\u00e1.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey affect not only the young generation, but each of us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Baranov\u00e1 said the network would prepare educators, psychologists and social workers to act as prevention ambassadors in schools, families and local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>URHH in full control of gambling risks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative builds on an agreement announced in March with the <strong>University of Trnava,<\/strong> which provides access to national gambling data to support research and educational resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also follows URHH\u2019s assumption of primary responsibility for consumer protection in the gambling sector in January 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The expansion comes as online casinos take a larger share of Slovakia\u2019s gambling market.
