{"id":1951,"date":"2023-05-24T19:56:16","date_gmt":"2023-05-24T18:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=1951"},"modified":"2023-05-24T19:56:18","modified_gmt":"2023-05-24T18:56:18","slug":"skillonnet-to-pay-uk-gambling-commission-305105-for-inconsistencies-in-aml-enforcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2023\/05\/24\/skillonnet-to-pay-uk-gambling-commission-305105-for-inconsistencies-in-aml-enforcement\/","title":{"rendered":"SkillOnNet to Pay UK Gambling Commission \u00a3305,105 for Inconsistencies in AML Enforcement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>UK Gambling Commission<\/strong> (<strong>UKGC<\/strong>) is seeking payment from <strong>SkillOnNet<\/strong> in lieu of a \u00a3305,150 as a financial penalty for breaches of social responsibility and anti-money laundering measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SkillOnNet, operator of 50 websites, including 15 White Label sites such as gentingcasino.com, playtoro.com and slotstars.com, is the latest in a long list of firms brought to justice by UKGC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UKGC explained that SkillOnNet has failed to prevent the use of gambling for, or related to criminal activities, to ensure that gambling is conducted in a fair and open manner, and to protect vulnerable groups from harm and exploitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the regulator&#8217;s conclusion, SkillOnNet does not have sufficient policies, procedures and controls to comply with anti-money laundering (AML) and responsible gambling requirements, and there are weaknesses in the implementation of the latter obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, SkillOnNet customers were able to exceed the \u00a32,000 limit by more than twice, suggesting that some of them were reallocating or rearranging winnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SkillOnNet has been accused of not accounting for payments from unknown third-party clients organized by criminal groups and multi-accounts, as well as not taking into account information about the risks of money laundering and financing of terrorism in case of failures in payment systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commission has chosen a fee of \u00a3305,150 to be used to fund social responsibility activities.
