Thor Gjermund Eriksen<\/strong>, after nine months in a senior position, resigned as CEO of the state-owned sports betting operator Norsk Tipping<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Appointed last year, Eriksen took over as the CEO after a successful career in media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From October 1, 2023, he will serve as CEO of Bane Nor<\/strong>, the government body responsible for the management and development of the Norwegian railway network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eriksen said: \u201cIt is with a heavy heart that I have made this decision, and the plan was clearly to stay in Norsk Tipping longer. In one year, I have become very happy with both the social mission Norsk Tipping has and also the employees at Hamar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through a varied career, Eriksen held a number of positions in the Norwegian media prior to his appointment as CEO of Norsk Tipping last year. He worked as an editor for Dagbladet<\/strong> and Aftenposten<\/strong> before moving into the civil service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, he continued his career, becoming the director and then CEO of Amedia<\/strong>, the second largest media holding in Norway with over 50 online newspapers and print publications. He then moved into broadcasting, becoming Head of Broadcasting at NRK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He expressed his thoughts on his new role: \u201cIn the same way as Norsk Tipping, Bane Nor has an important social mission. Leading the job of ensuring good and future-oriented infrastructure on the railways in Norway is exciting and something I have chosen to accept.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being informed of Eriksen’s intention to leave, Sylvia Brustad<\/strong>, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Norsk Tipping, immediately began searching for a new CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brustad commented: \u201cIt is sad for both the board and the employees that Thor Gjermund is leaving. He has done a very good job in the time he has led the company, and we would very much like to see him stay with us longer. We wish him the best of luck in his new job.\u201d
