{"id":4740,"date":"2024-02-22T12:01:23","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T12:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=4740"},"modified":"2024-02-22T12:01:27","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T12:01:27","slug":"kambi-to-revamp-network-following-unsatisfactory-2023-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2024\/02\/22\/kambi-to-revamp-network-following-unsatisfactory-2023-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Kambi to Revamp Network Following Unsatisfactory 2023 Results"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kambi Group Plc<\/strong> has declared that it has achieved a \u2018stronger foundation for growth\u2019, following a difficult close to year-end trading which impacted its full-year 2023 results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Publishing its Fourth Quarter and FY2023 results, the Stockholm-listed sports betting technology group registered a 23% decline in Q4 revenues to \u20ac44.3m (Q42022: \u20ac58m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decline in period revenues was attributed to the migration of its online sportsbook contract with <strong>PENN Entertainment<\/strong>, initiated in July 2023. Kambi\u2019s North American results were \u2018exacerbated by a busy US sporting calendar\u2019, resulting in a Q4 EBITDA decline of 38% to \u20ac17m (Q42022: \u20ac27m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excluding Penn\u2019s online migration, Kambi informed: \u2018When stripping out Penn\u2019s online contribution in Q4 2022, turnover was up 6% across the global network and up 18% in the Americas. The operator trading margin in Q4 was 8.3%, compared to 8.1% in the same period last year.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On an annual basis, group revenues stood at \u20ac173m, up 4% on FY2022\u2019s corresponding results of \u20ac166m, as Kambi\u2019s network matched the tough comparatives of FIFA World Cup 2022 trading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite securing \u2018ten new clients and seven sportsbook renewals\u2019, the FY2023 results were dragged down by a \u2018slow regulatory rollout in major markets\u2019, compounding the effects of Penn migrating from its sportsbook platform.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year accounts saw Kambi book a \u20ac7.5m convertible bond repayment to Kindred Group Plc, a factor which led Kambi to declare an FY2023 EBITDA of \u20ac57m, down 11% on FY2022\u2019s results of \u20ac63m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registering a 44% decline in FY2023 profits to \u20ac15m (FY2022: \u20ac26.5m), <strong>Kristian Nyl\u00e9n<\/strong>, the outgoing CEO of Kambi, noted \u2018unsatisfactory financial results\u2019 in a challenging year for the company navigating complex industry challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nyl\u00e9n remarked: \u201dAs I look back on the year, I have two overriding takeaways. The first is that I\u2019m not satisfied with our financial performance. This was impacted by lower than anticipated revenue from Shape Games, smaller than expected revenue contributions from two of our largest partners, and Bally\u2019s measured approach to marketing its sportsbook thus far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy second reflection is that we made good progress in building the foundations that will ultimately lead to a much-improved financial performance in the future, giving me confidence we\u2019re on the right path for the long-term.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2024 will see Kambi refresh its sportsbook network by adding the tier-one client<strong> LiveScore Group<\/strong> and becoming the full-service sportsbook supplier for the Swedish state-owned gambling group <strong>Svenska Spel.<\/strong> \u201dThese partnerships leverage established customer bases and revenue streams, with meaningful financial impact anticipated from H2 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The supplier\u2019s US prospects are underlined as Penn online declines will be offset by Kambi\u2019s chief sportsbook supplier agreement with <strong>Bally\u2019s Corporation<\/strong>, which is optimised by improved UX and Bet Builder integrations for North American sports markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Announced this February, Penn retained Kambi as the principal sports betting technology supplier for its retail venues \u201csuch as kiosks, point-of-sale terminals, odds boards, and Bring Your Own Device technology.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strengthening its network, Kambi will launch a new modularisation strategy for clients to benefit from its new risk management platform Tzeract, and the services of Abios (esports) and Shape Games (UX).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to subscribe to our <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/sbceurasia\">Telegram-channel<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kambi Group Plc has declared that it has achieved a \u2018stronger foundation for growth\u2019, following a difficult close to year-end trading which impacted its full-year 2023 results.
