{"id":6038,"date":"2024-06-25T12:49:43","date_gmt":"2024-06-25T11:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=6038"},"modified":"2024-06-25T12:49:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T11:49:47","slug":"indonesian-authorities-have-begun-confiscating-gambling-company-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2024\/06\/25\/indonesian-authorities-have-begun-confiscating-gambling-company-accounts\/","title":{"rendered":"Indonesian Authorities Have Begun Confiscating Gambling Company Accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In Indonesia, a newly created task force dedicated to gambling has already begun active efforts to block access to gaming platforms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hadi Tjahjanto<\/strong>, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, stressed that suspicious bank accounts are now being closely monitored to identify potential online gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under current legislation, all forms of gambling are strictly prohibited to both locals and foreigners staying or visiting Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The task force&#8217;s fight against iGaming is being carried out with the assistance of observers from officers <strong>(Babinsa)<\/strong> of the <strong>National Armed Forces (TNI)<\/strong>, as well as security and public order officers <strong>(Bhabinkamtibma) <\/strong>of the <strong>National Police Force (Polri).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe task force will block access to overseas online gambling platforms, particularly by targeting network access providers. The Bhabinkamtibmas and Babinsa are actively monitoring the trading of bank accounts used for online gambling, as well as mini-markets that sell credits for online gambling top-up\u201d, \u2014 Tjahjanto commented from Jakarta.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indonesia&#8217;s <strong>Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) <\/strong>will analyze all surveillance data, focusing on 4,000 to 5,000 bank accounts that may be linked to gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The findings will then be shared with the <strong>Polri Criminal Investigation Agency<\/strong>. The agency will undertake the task of identifying all persons associated with these accounts and notifying them of possible suspicions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone who claims to own the accounts is given a period of 30 days. In the absence of applications, all available funds will be transferred to the national treasury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hadi Tjahjanto led the task force to eradicate online gambling, officially created by President Joko Widodo on June 14.
