{"id":6188,"date":"2024-07-10T12:00:19","date_gmt":"2024-07-10T11:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=6188"},"modified":"2024-07-10T12:00:23","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T11:00:23","slug":"passion-gaming-founders-buy-back-shares-to-restore-100-ownership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2024\/07\/10\/passion-gaming-founders-buy-back-shares-to-restore-100-ownership\/","title":{"rendered":"Passion Gaming Founders Buy Back Shares to Restore 100% Ownership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The founders of Indian operator <strong>Passion Gaming<\/strong> have bought back shares from investors, regaining full control of the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passion Gaming, known for its real-money online rummy platform <strong>Rummy Passion<\/strong>, has exceeded 10 million registered players in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017, the UK-based <strong>Rank Group<\/strong> invested $3.75 million in Passion Gaming via its subsidiary <strong>Stride Investments<\/strong>, securing a 51% stake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, co-founders <strong>Bobby Garg and Priya Kumar<\/strong> announced they have successfully re-acquired these shares for an undisclosed amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAchieving 100% ownership again is a rarity in a founder\u2019s journey,\u201d said Kumar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis move empowers us to pursue our vision with full autonomy and capitalise on the immense potential we see in the Indian skill gaming market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Garg added that: \u201cWe hold an optimistic view of the future for skill gaming in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNavigating the complexities of taxation and hopeful of a positive regulatory setup in the skill gaming industry, we aim to reach 10 crore [100 million] registered users on Rummy Passion over the next three years to establish a significant leadership role in the rummy market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passion Gaming also <a href=\"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2024\/06\/26\/india-to-maintain-28-gst-on-goods-and-services\/\">addressed the 28% deposit fee for online gambling imposed<\/a> by India&#8217;s Goods and Services Tax (GST), which continues to apply to skill game operators in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tax \u201cposes challenges to the sector,\u201d Passion said, as co-founder Barg suggested: \u201cWe hope the government seizes this opportunity to put India in the pole position globally in the gaming sector by fostering entrepreneurship in skill gaming and implementing fair taxation policies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are optimistic that with our continued commitment to player protection the skill gaming sector can prosper.
