{"id":7389,"date":"2024-11-01T14:17:48","date_gmt":"2024-11-01T14:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=7389"},"modified":"2024-11-01T14:17:53","modified_gmt":"2024-11-01T14:17:53","slug":"pagcor-revenues-from-gambling-in-the-philippines-increased-by-42-reaching-79-43-billion-pesos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2024\/11\/01\/pagcor-revenues-from-gambling-in-the-philippines-increased-by-42-reaching-79-43-billion-pesos\/","title":{"rendered":"PAGCOR: Revenues from Gambling in the Philippines Increased by 42%, reaching 79.43 billion pesos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) <\/strong>has seen a strong period of growth, recording a <strong>42%<\/strong> year-on-year revenue growth in the first nine months of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, the group generated <strong>PHP79.43 billion (US$1.36 billion) <\/strong>in revenue as the Philippines\u2019 gaming sector navigates the new regulatory landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results highlighted the significant growth of the country\u2019s thriving online gaming sector, which reported <strong>25% <\/strong>of total revenue in the nine-month period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alejandro Tengco<\/strong>, PAGCOR Chair and CEO, stated: \u201cOur third quarter performance is a strong indication that in spite of the President\u2019s decision to ban offshore gaming operations in the country, we are still on track to meet our Php100bn revenue target by year-end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFrom our total contributions to nation-building, Php33.2bn ($570m) went to the National Treasury as 50% government share. Half of the remittances to the national coffers, or Php16.6bn ($285m), has been earmarked for<strong> PhilHealth<\/strong> to fund the Universal Healthcare Law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAGCOR has taken significant steps to reorient operators towards the regulated space, one of the key ones being the decision to reduce operator fees to 25% by 2025.
