{"id":8617,"date":"2025-02-27T08:04:30","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T08:04:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=8617"},"modified":"2025-02-27T08:04:35","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T08:04:35","slug":"sbc-leaders-magazine-alex-fonseca-from-superbet-predicts-fierce-competition-in-brazil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/02\/27\/sbc-leaders-magazine-alex-fonseca-from-superbet-predicts-fierce-competition-in-brazil\/","title":{"rendered":"SBC Leaders Magazine: Alex Fonseca From Superbet Predicts Fierce Competition in Brazil"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Success in Brazil is likely to prove tough to achieve for operators despite the regulation of the market, <strong>SuperbetBrazil<\/strong> CEO <strong>Alex Fonseca <\/strong>tells the new issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/sbc.global\/docs\/sbc_leaders_issue_35?fr=sMDI1NTc2MzEyNjE\">SBC Leaders magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Industry eyes have been firmly focused on Brazil since its regulated market launched at the beginning of January and that attention is set to intensify when the <a href=\"https:\/\/sbcevents.com\/sbc-summit-rio\/\">SBC Summit <\/a>Rio conference and trade show takes place next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there is a strong chance that the level of heightened interest will not be matched by increases in revenue for individual operators, according to Fonseca, who helped Superbet to become the first company to secure a licence in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He warns that the move from a grey market to a fully regulated one is likely to result in intense competition, as \u201call the major names will apply for an operating licence in Brazil, and those who will leave the market are smaller websites\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t believe revenue will increase solely because of regulation,\u201d Fonseca continues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMaybe it will grow for some operators who start doing better work, with larger investments, which will naturally lead them to gain a bigger market share. With greater security for the capital invested in Brazil, operators will invest more and grow their brands.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Brazil focus continues elsewhere in the magazine, as <strong>Fellipe Fraga (CBO, EstrelaBet), Fernando Garita (CEO, Betsul), Jo\u00e3o Studart (CEO, NSX Group), Antonio Forjaz(Country Manager, Sportingbet) <\/strong>and<strong> Rafael Marchetti Marcondes (Chief Legal Officer, Rei do Pitaco)<\/strong> share their <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/sbc.global\/docs\/sbc_leaders_issue_35\/12\">thoughts on the opening of the market<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Away from Brazil, <strong>888Africa\u2019s CEO Christopher Coyne <\/strong>tells the <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/sbc.global\/docs\/sbc_leaders_issue_35\/42\">story of the brand\u2019s successful expansion<\/a> across Malawi, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis year, we acquired our three millionth first time depositor.
