SBC Summit<\/strong> <\/strong>will make a powerful return<\/a> to Lisbon this September, bringing together 30,000 industry professionals for its biggest edition yet. While SBC Summit Americas<\/strong>, debuting in Fort Lauderdale this May, will deliver<\/a> a pan-American educational experience, tailored for companies aiming to deepen market insights or expand their presence in North and Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following weeks of deliberations, the National Assembly of Armenia<\/strong> has approved<\/a> a package of legislative amendments to apply a new tax code on gambling activities. Initiated from 1 July 2025, the new tax code will apply a 10% turnover tax on the gambling activities of casinos, online games, sports betting, lotteries and totalizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ministers in Romania<\/strong> have been urged<\/a> to back new regulations that will impose a limit on gambling expenditure to 10% of a player\u2019s monthly income. While Gheorghe-Gabriel Gheorghe<\/strong>, President of Romania\u2019s National Office for Gambling (ONJN)<\/strong>, has refused<\/a> to attend the parliamentary hearings of the IT Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government of the Republic of Slovakia<\/strong> has been urged<\/a> to recognise the acceleration of online gambling (particularly online casinos) outpacing land-based gambling segments. The warning came from Martin Boho\u0161, Director General of \u00daRHH, Slovakia\u2019s Office for the Regulation of Gambling<\/strong>, who filed the monitoring report for 2024 activities to the Vl\u00e1da.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 17, Georgia\u2019s Court of Appeal upheld<\/a> a lower court ruling that SPRIBE OU<\/strong> had registered Aviator LLC<\/strong>\u2019s trademarks in bad faith, violating its copyright. While Lithuania\u2019s Olympic Casino Group Baltija<\/strong> has been fined<\/a> nearly \u20ac8.4 million for serious regulatory breaches related to the BaltCap<\/strong> embezzlement case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The application of cross-operator checks and protections mandated by Germany\u2019s Fourth Interstate Treaty on Gambling (Gl\u00fcNeuRStV) <\/strong>has come under scrutiny<\/a>. The liabilities of the Gl\u00fcNeuRStV regime were detailed by the journal Investigate Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mastercard<\/strong> and Visa<\/strong> have reaffirmed<\/a> their strict stance against illegal activities on their payment networks, declaring a \u201czero tolerance\u201d policy toward the black market. While a report by the All India Gaming Federation<\/strong> has revealed<\/a> the extent at which players in the country engage with the black market. West Ham<\/strong> midfielder Lucas Paqueta<\/strong> is to appear<\/a> at a hearing over alleged betting fraud. The three-week hearing into alleged match-fixing offences will be one of the longest trials in the history of the Football Association (FA)<\/strong>, which is seeking a life ban for the player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
