{"id":8946,"date":"2025-03-27T10:43:18","date_gmt":"2025-03-27T10:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=8946"},"modified":"2025-03-27T10:43:23","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T10:43:23","slug":"svenska-spel-nominates-eva-lotta-sjostedt-as-the-new-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/03\/27\/svenska-spel-nominates-eva-lotta-sjostedt-as-the-new-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"Svenska Spel Nominates Eva-Lotta Sj\u00f6stedt as the New Chair"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The board of <strong>Svenska Spel<\/strong> has nominated <strong>Eva-Lotta Sj\u00f6stedt<\/strong> to serve as the new chair of Sweden\u2019s state-owned gambling, toto, and lotteries group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nomination comes as Svenska Spel reorganises its boardroom following the upcoming resignation of <strong>Erik Strand<\/strong>, who is set to step down as chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A prominent figure in Swedish business, Eva-Lotta Sj\u00f6stedt is a former executive of IKEA, where she played a key role in developing the home retailer group\u2019s global commercial strategy, helping it become Sweden\u2019s highest-valued public company (+\u20ac95bn\/$102,6bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following her decade-long tenure at IKEA, Sj\u00f6stedt has served as an independent advisor to multiple European companies, including Finland\u2019s <strong>Elisa<\/strong> <strong>Telecom<\/strong> and German wholesale food distributor <strong>METRO AG.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board has nominated Sj\u00f6stedt as an expert in business planning and online development, citing her previous directorship roles, which have demonstrated strong oversight in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, Svenska Spel undertook significant reforms after being ordered by the Swedish government to terminate its remaining Casino Cosmopol venues. The reorganisation resulted in a 9% decrease in operating profits to SEK 2,113m ($208,76m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by CEO <strong>Anna Johnson<\/strong>, the company remains optimistic about the future. Johnson stated, \u201cLeadership is confident that it will mitigate the changes from 2024 and return to growth in 2025, implementing the forthcoming changes from its organisational review.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supporting Sj\u00f6stedt, <strong>Anna Gagner-Geeber <\/strong>and <strong>Johan Wilsby<\/strong> have also been nominated as new board members of Svenska Spel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna Gagner-Geeber currently serves as office counsel for the Swedish government\u2019s Department of Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johan Wilsby is the chief financial officer at Swedish cash handling company <strong>Loomis<\/strong>.
