{"id":9307,"date":"2025-04-30T10:10:04","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T09:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/?p=9307"},"modified":"2025-04-30T10:10:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T09:10:11","slug":"google-bans-dont-help-netherlands-fight-offshore-operators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbceurasia.com\/en\/2025\/04\/30\/google-bans-dont-help-netherlands-fight-offshore-operators\/","title":{"rendered":"\u200bGoogle Bans Don&#8217;t Help Netherlands Fight Offshore Operators"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Mikal Tseggai<\/strong>, a member of the Dutch Labour Party, and Willem Koops, from the New Social Contract Party, requested a direct government intervention to restrict unlicensed operators from being shown to Dutch residents in <strong>Google<\/strong> searches.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe House of Representatives heard the deliberation\u2026requesting the government to include a ban on advertising and making gambling websites findable in search engines in the new gambling law, unless the <strong>Gambling Authority (Kansspelautoriteit)<\/strong> has exceptionally certified a provider as a reliable organisation, the so-called whitelisting, on the basis of a careful review.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, the motion essentially asked for Google to refrain from giving advertising space to gambling operators unless the same ones have been explicitly cleared by the Kansspelautoriteit through the granting of a Dutch licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in an official response to <strong>CasinoNieuws.nl<\/strong>, Google confirmed that such measures already exist in the form of a whitelist incorporated within the US technology giant\u2019s very own advertising policy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This obliges the tech firm to only give region-specific advertising space to firms officially licensed by the relevant gambling regulators, including the Netherlands\u2019 KSA. Similar measures were most recently rolled out by Google across <strong>Nigeria and Germany.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this, illegal websites keep finding new ways to abuse Google\u2019s search results to find new potential customers.
