Partnership with Stake.com Threatens Alfa Romeo with Legal Consequences

Formula 1 racing team Alfa Romeo, which recently signed a title partnership with gambling operator Stake.com, has successfully unveiled its new car. However, as reported by F1i.com, the marketing of such a car can create certain legal problems for the team.

One of the risks is a legal ban on gambling advertising. Such a ban is observed in many countries where Formula 1 holds its Grand Prix. In particular Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, in Switzerland, where the racing team has its HQ, the activities and marketing of gambling operators are prohibited if offices of such companies are located outside of the country (Stake.com is registered in Curacao).

In addition, Alfa Romeo and its partners in the gambling world have already violated Swiss law when the Stake.com logo was displayed on their car during a presentation in Zurich. Rudy Schneider, a spokesman for the Federal Gaming Council, said that F1 team competitions conducted in violation of the law could lead to serious consequences.

The Alfa Romeo team, meanwhile, emphasized its intention to strictly comply with the laws of the countries where the races take place. The team also added that Stake.com is not aimed at Swiss players and that access to the operator’s domain is blocked inside Switzerland.
