Twitch CEO Sees No Obstacles To Broadcasting Licensed Gambling Content

In his keynote, Dan Clancy, CEO of Twitch, talked about the platform’s approach to gambling content and emphasized that they are actively working to prevent the promotion of unlicensed operators.

In September 2022, Twitch made important changes to its Community Guidelines regarding gambling-related content. From October 18, 2022, streamers on the platform are prohibited from showing materials or advertising illegal casinos and companies without a proper license.

In an interview, Clancy explained the reason for Twitch’s decision, stressing that the new measures only affect unlicensed and unregulated operators, not affecting content associated with licensed brands. This means that streamers can still show content associated with licensed companies on the Twitch platform.

A Bloomberg article drew attention to the prevalence of some operators on the Twitch platform that violated community guidelines.

In a previous statement released last year, Twitch noted instances where Stake.com, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet.com content and branding have been shared on their platform.

A community leadership update in September further tightened Twitch’s gambling policies following a 2021 update that banned links to operators’ websites.

However, the main focus of the Twitch sponsorship ban has been on casino content, and as Clancy noted in a recent interview, the focus has been on unlicensed and unregulated firms.
