Gambling Reform In Armenia: Changes In Licensing

Armenia’s Parliament announced that the Ministry of Finance is preparing a bill to equate the requirements for obtaining gambling licenses for foreign online casinos and betting companies with the requirements applicable to local companies.

Information about upcoming changes was presented at a meeting of the National Assembly in the context of discussing a set of measures aimed at revising the current legislation on gambling in the country, as well as related legislative acts.

According to the proposed standards, players wishing to use the services of foreign gambling companies will have to open individual accounts, which can only be replenished in person.

Gevorg Papoyan, Head of the Parliamentary Commission on Financial, Credit and Budgetary Issues, explained that the proposed changes to the legislation will help better control groups of people, including low-income citizens and law enforcement officers, who are addicted to gambling. In case of gambling abuse, restrictions on participation in gambling may be introduced in relation to these social categories.
