Ukrainian Gambling and Lotteries Commission: Record Amount Of Licencing Fees Collected In Favour Of The State Budget

The Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (CRAIL) presented a brief report on its financial activities since its creation, claiming that over 2.5 years, 3.9 billion UAH were transferred to the state budget only in the form of license fees – funds that gaming companies pay for the right to legally carry out their activities in Ukraine.

Online casinos, for example, receive five-year licenses and pay annual license fees, which are divided into five parts, providing regular contributions to the budget. The same system applies to licensing fees for online bookmakers and many other gambling companies. It is important to note that license costs may vary depending on the type of gaming business.

In addition to licensing fees, casinos are also required to pay taxes, and rates may vary between land-based- and online casinos, and taxes apply to both profits and turnover. In addition, user winnings are also subject to taxation, and the casino is responsible for collecting and remitting these taxes to the budget. In the first 6 months of 2023, the gambling business contributed almost 3 billion UAH in taxes to the budget.
