The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has officially confirmed that Carl Brincat will leave his position as CEO in January 2024.
The announcement notes that MGA has begun a search for a new CEO to replace Brincat, who has held the post since January 2021, following the departure of former CEO Heathcliff Farrugia.
Brincat played an important role in key initiatives related to changes to the Maltese gambling law. He actively supported amendments aimed at strengthening anti-money laundering measures, maintaining sporting integrity, and regulating the conduct and liability of gambling operators.
MGA Chairman Ryan Pace spoke highly of Brincat’s contributions to strengthening the MGA, stating: “Carl has made extensive contributions to the MGA and to the gaming industry in Malta. We are confident in, and very thankful for, the strong foundation he leaves behind as we continue to pursue the MGA’s strategic goals.”
The search process for Brincat’s successor will begin soon when the MGA announces the launch of a public call for applications. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with Brincat for several weeks before his departure on January 25.
