SBC CIS Weekly Digest: February 12 — 19, 2024

SBC CIS Editorial Team is happy to present a quick recap of the gambling industry events, news, regulations and partnerships that happened last week. 

At the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan information was presented regarding the security of the mechanism for transmitting data from betting companies to the tax authorities. Director of the Methodology Department at the Committee emphasized that the confidentiality of data concerning participants in bets and bets will be strictly observed in accordance with tax secrecy.

The Chairman of the Socialist Party of Albania, Bledi Cuci, unexpectedly withdrew the said bill without explanation. Earlier, Albania’s parliament planned to vote to lift a five-year ban on online sports betting, acknowledging insufficient controls over illegal activities.

Deputies have submitted an amendment to the Lithuanian Gambling Act, which will further tighten advertising rules from 2025. About 50 deputies, mostly from the ruling Fatherland Union party, signed the amendment, which prohibits gambling operators from sponsoring public events, functions, activities, individuals or legal entities.

Additionally, Derk Boswijk of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party filed a mandate to ban all gambling advertising in the Netherlands. In July, regulatory reforms were introduced to restrict “untargeted advertising” across TV, radio and print, and in some public spaces like cinemas and cafes. The provisions excluded general online marketing, direct mailing, and social media advertising. 

The Senate of Colombia has confirmed that tax measures on online gambling will be reviewed to support the government’s plans to overhaul the nation’s public welfare and healthcare systems.

7777 Gaming continues to expand its presence in Bulgaria, aiming for additional growth in the country through the Slotino online casino. Capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, was also chosen to be the development and operations center for InPlay Matrix.

NOVOMATIC Digital Gaming and Entertainment has raised the bar in its development in Europe by introducing a diverse portfolio of popular slot machines under the Greentube brand into the regulated Slovak market, highlighting the company’s commitment to continued growth in the region. While Nolimit City has extended its strategic partnership with Kaizen Gaming in the Greek market.

Playtech has extended its agreement with leading online betting provider BoyleSports until 2028, providing the UK and Ireland with unique Casino content, exclusive live casino and award-winning bingo and poker content. While BGaming has entered into a strategic partnership with online operator BVGroup. 

Kindred is strengthening its responsible gambling initiative through collaborations with ATG and Svenska Spel. Additionally, Pragmatic Play has deepened its collaboration with Playbook Engineering, providing its Bingo products to the platform’s partner operators.

Flutter Entertainment has expanded the scope of its B2B partnership with French operator Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU). Moreover, Flutter UKI has launched a search for a ‘high potential’ startup to help serve its female customer base across the UK and Ireland.

Altenar has partnered with gaming platform provider Anakatech to support its entry into sports betting across European markets. While BetGames has expanded its global footprint by entering into an agreement to provide its full portfolio of products to the entertainment platform Superbet. 

DAZN has announced that the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) is bringing its live streaming service Courtside 1891 to their platform.

BetConstruct has unveiled its latest suite of products, designed to meet customer needs for effective player interactions. Moreover, BetConstruct was awarded the prestigious ‘Best Sports Betting Platform of the Year’ award at the International Gaming Awards (IGA) London 2024.

SOFTSWISS’ affiliate brand Affilka sees impressive productivity growth – it doubled its partners’ GGR in 2023, crediting a successful year to “noticeable growth in partner payments.”

Betsson AB has published its full-year 2023 results with corporate revenues stood at €948m, up 22% on FY2022 results of €777m.
