Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has extended its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UK Gambling Commission, continuing the exchange of information between the two institutions.
At Spelinspektionen’s industry seminar on 5 March in Stockholm, an extension agreement was reached, signed by Sarah Gardner, Deputy Chief Executive of UKGC, and Camilla Rosenberg, CEO of Spelinspektionen.
This is also a development of the original agreement between the two regulators reached in November 2019.
Rosenberg commented: “The gambling market is global and it is important to have good relations to cooperate with other gambling authorities. Although our markets differ, we have many common areas where we can learn from each other and exchange experiences. By working together, we can achieve our common goals of a healthy and safe gambling market”.
Spelinspektionen also maintains memorandums of understanding with gambling regulators in the Netherlands, Malta and Gibraltar.
On LinkedIn, the UKGC said: “The MoU – our second this year after Norway in February – will strengthen ties between our two jurisdictions and facilitate further sharing and promotion of information aimed at improving our respective regulatory duties and tackling common challenges, such as the illegal online market. Our work with international partners is vital in ensuring that mutual interests aimed at protecting consumers in an increasingly global market are faced in a way that reinforces our commitment to making gambling safer, fairer and crime-free.”
