Denmark Set to Launch B2B Gambling License Applications in September

The Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) has announced it will begin accepting applications for B2B supplier licenses starting September 1. Online gambling suppliers will need these licenses to operate as operators from January 1, 2025.

The new regulations will separate the responsibilities of operators and suppliers, with the DGA outlining specific requirements for each.

“The new certification programme is expected to be submitted for consultation in mid-July. The certification programme will come into force on January 1, 2025, and updated standard reports will also be available from that date,” the DGA stated.

Suppliers will need to pay a registration fee of approximately DKK 62,000 (EUR 8,313.50) and an annual fee of DKK 41,000 to maintain the license.

The DGA has provided a section on its portal explaining the application process for these licenses. A comprehensive online supplier licensing portal is expected to go live on October 1.

Applications will include login details for a platform where companies can upload necessary information and certificates. An accredited testing company will evaluate the games, platforms, business processes, and business systems of suppliers.

Subcontractors, such as game studios, will not require a license. B2C companies can develop internal games without a license but will need one if they provide their product to other operators.

All current game certificates will remain valid, so no additional certificates will be needed from January 1 if the supplier’s game or platform has already been tested.

However, suppliers must transition to the new system by July 2025, and the DGA advises them to do so as soon as possible.
