BetMGM has been announced as the official sponsor of the upcoming Premier League Darts season.
This decision was made following the highly successful PDC World Championship which saw a significant increase in interest in darts in the UK from both competitors and spectators.
The Premier League is keen to capitalize on the growing interest in the sport, which continues to develop alongside major events in the area.
Matt Porter, PDC Chief Executive, said: “The Premier League will reach a huge live audience and a massive global television audience across four months, and we’re delighted to welcome BetMGM as our new title sponsor. This year marks the 20th staging of the Premier League and it is already the most eagerly-awaited, with the standard of entertainment across PDC events in the past 12 months having continued to rise. As we enter the third year of the eight-player, nightly knockout format we’re excited about working alongside BetMGM to promote such a wide-reaching event”.
The BetMGM Premier League will run from February to May and will feature 17 nights where eight players will compete for a £1 million prize pool.
Each of the 16 league nights features a different event where eight players will compete to determine a winner. The top four finishers from the final standings advance to the playoffs, which conclude the season.
As BetMGM actively promotes its presence in the UK, the operator has already announced partnerships with Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United, as well as radio station talkSPORT.
Sam Behar, the UK Director of BetMGM, commented: “We are thrilled to be partnering with such an exciting and entertaining event as Premier League Darts and look forward to an action-packed 2024 for both BetMGM and the PDC”.
The Premier League begins on 1 February in Cardiff and will travel to Berlin, Glasgow, Newcastle, Exeter, Brighton, Nottingham, Dublin, Belfast, Manchester, Birmingham, Rotterdam, Liverpool, Aberdeen, Leeds and Sheffield before concluding with the play-offs in London.
