Playtech won the Finnish tender to provide live casino games through government procurement and has now partnered with Veikkaus, the state-owned monopoly operator in Finland. The initial partnership is planned for six years, with the possibility of further expansion in the future.
The two organizations have already established a partnership, with Playtech providing online casinos, retail VLT machines, online poker and a casino management system for the Finnish monopoly operator. Playtech’s Live Casino offerings are currently available in various parts of the world, including Pennsylvania, USA, and Ontario, Canada.
Veikkaus will provide players in Finland with the opportunity to enjoy Playtech’s live casino games, while planning to create its own studio under the Veikkaus brand. This studio will be used to produce live casino content, and the games will be available in Finnish, including blackjack and roulette in the initial range.
Veikkaus VP, iCasino Riikka Seppänen said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Playtech as our partner for Live casino games, following a comprehensive public procurement process. This strategic framework agreement marks an important milestone for Veikkaus as we expand our product portfolio to include live casino games for the first time. We have been and continue to work diligently alongside Finnish authorities and regulators to ensure a robust regulatory framework is in place.”
Finland currently has a monopoly system. However, there are plans to move towards a licensed system, which has been praised by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) as “a welcome step towards meaningful gambling reform in Finland”.
