SBC CIS Weekly Digest: July, 3—10

SBC CIS Editorial Team is happy to present a quick recap of the gambling industry events, news, regulations and partnerships that happened last week. 

Georgian Gambling Association (GGA) and the Association of Gaming Businesses of Kazakhstan (SRO) signed a memorandum of cooperation. The leaders of both associations, Giorgi Mamulaishvili and Galimjan Duambekov, officially signed the bilateral document. The signing ceremony was attended by representatives of the governments of Georgia and Kazakhstan. In order to expand mutual cooperation and strengthen close ties, a high-ranking official of culture and sports of Kazakhstan, Miraz Tulebaev, and the head of the Monitoring and Analysis Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhuldyz Erkimbaeva, made a 2-day working visit to Georgia. Together with Galymzhan Duambekov, they held meetings with the Georgian association’s member companies.

In the Netherlands and Belgium, long-awaited legislative changes have come into force, involving the introduction of broad restrictions on gambling advertising. On July 1, both countries introduced new measures aimed at regulating and restricting betting advertising practices.

France, Ireland and Germany intended to ban ChatGPT citing user personal data protection laws.

Thor Gjermund Eriksen, CEO of the Norwegian state-owned sports betting operator Norsk Tipping, resigned after nine months in a senior position. From October 1, 2023, he will serve as CEO of Bane Nor, the government body responsible for the management and development of the Norwegian railway network.

Entain abandoned further negotiations to buy a controlling stake in the Slovenian monopoly betting operator Športna Loterija. The gambling group confirmed to the Slovenian press agency STA that they had stopped negotiations with the Ministry of Finance. The announcement came in response to the Finance Ministry’s statement that all offers to acquire a stake in Športna Loterija had been withdrawn.

La Française des Jeux (FDJ) partnered with Playtech to bring the latter’s iPoker solution to their players. The group will be able to take advantage of the increased liquidity provided by this solution, bringing together players from bet365, Betfair, William Hill, Betsson, and Svenska Spel that has recently joined Playtech’s poker network as well.

Smartsoft Gaming, a pioneering game developer, famous for offering their hit-game with alternative mechanics JetX, shared their insight into why crash games are being so popular with players around the globe. 

Soft2Bet obtained a licence from the Romanian regulator, Oficiul National pentru Jocuri de Noroc (ONJN). The company is now licensed to operate its casino and betting services within the country, which is seen as an exciting opportunity for this leading B2B gaming brand.

Podcast Review: Open Banking Advantages for the iGaming Industry

Nikola Tchakarov, Head of Market Expansion at Noda, appeared in the latest episode of the iGaming Daily podcast to talk about the advantages of the OpenBanking technology for the iGaming sector. 

CreedRoomz offered its extensive catalogue of games to casino players at Leader Bet (also known as Lider Bet), a prominent aggregator with a strong presence in the Georgian gaming industry. Thanks to this collaboration, players now can enjoy CreedRoomz’s classics such as Baccarat, Blackjack, and Roulette on the Leader Bet platform. 

Bragg Gaming Group continued its expansion in Europe by entering into a partnership with Georgian operator Adjarabet. Through an offer with subsidiary Flutter Entertainment, Bragg Gaming will be able to offer its own and third-party games to players in Georgia through its remote game server (RGS)  technology.

Anna Gugutishvili was appointed to lead the design team at Flutter Entertainment in Georgia and Armenia. She was the company’s art director and the head of the graphic design department. Anna will be responsible for overseeing and developing the visual style of the company’s brands to enter the worldwide market. 

ESA Gaming and Kiron Interactive announced a strategic partnership to build perfect gaming solutions.

Golden Matrix Group Inc upgraded its acquisition bid to settle the terms of its purchase of MeridianBet, a B2C betting and gaming operator based in Malta and operating in Europe, Africa and Latin America. 

Relax Gaming expanded its affiliate program called “Powered By” with Realistic Games set to be among the first to benefit from the updated offer — the online casino content developer will integrate its portfolio of over 120 slot games with Relax’s platform.

BetConstruct expanded its presence in the Web3 realm with the introduction of the BCverse, the B2B gaming metaverse. BCverse is a co-created world with PandaMR that recreates BetConstruct, offering content from the provider, Fastex Ecosystem and other SoftConstruct brands available on the Web3 platform. BetConstruct will integrate its products and services into the “Metaverse Platform”, creating a favourable environment for the development of ideas in the virtual space.
