SBC CIS Editorial Team is happy to present a quick recap of the gambling industry events, news, regulations and partnerships that happened last week. 

SBC celebrated yet another milestone last week, as the events and media company successfully wrapped up the largest and most successful edition of SBC Summit Latinoamérica to date. 

Latin America’s premier iGaming and sports betting event took place from October 31st to November 2nd and built upon the success of the previous year by welcoming 2,500 senior executives, all with a focus on the Latin America region. 

With a substantial 150% increase in attending delegates from the 2022 edition, the post-event survey revealed an impressive 80% of attendees expressed high satisfaction, underscoring the unwavering attention to detail and quality SBC has become synonymous with. 

Delegates in attendance included stakeholders from 234 regional and globally recognized operators, as well as affiliates, suppliers, game developers, media and sports teams and 11 regulatory bodies.

In Kazakhstan, the Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, announced a ban on advertising of betting companies, sweepstakes and online casinos.

In Kyrgyz Republic, the Member of the Supreme Council, Dastan Bekeshev, expressed the opinion that the new law on casinos in Kyrgyz Republic will lead to the formation of a gambling monopoly in private hands.

SKS365, Italy’s leading iGaming operator, has confirmed a definitive agreement to join the Lottomatica Group for €639 million (or £556 million). The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2024.

Curacao Gaming Control Board (GCB) launched a registration process for legal entities on its new online licensing portal. This step is part of the modernization of the national gambling system and is aimed at stricter and more transparent control over the activities of gambling operators.

Better Collective has successfully acquired Playmaker Capital for €176 million (£153 million/$188 million), with the deal expected to be finalised in the first quarter of 2024. According to Better Collective, the agreement will strengthen the company’s position as a leading market player in South America and “confirm its leadership in North America.” To finance this transaction, it is planned to use 65% shares and 35% cash. After the successful completion of the transaction, the company will revise its financial plans for the period from 2023 to 2027.

Lina Lugova, Chief Marketing Officer at Epom, shared some deeper insights into the ways that seasonality impacts advertising. In a new survey, 86% of gamers turn off notifications from gaming websites because of excessive or irrelevant emails, text messages and push notifications, while major sporting events, good weather, major holidays, the financial crisis and political figures all have an influencing role. 

Vitali Matsukevich, CEO at SOFTSWISS, sat down with SBC to talk about the key aspects that gambling operators should consider when assessing their performance. Matsukevich pinpointed some of the traps that many betting and gaming companies fall into when looking at different metrics, before explaining why he believes the industry must shift towards player-centric performance models in 2024.

Formula 1 revenue increased 24% year-on-year to US$887 million. A 24% increase in Formula One revenues pushed the series’ overall operating profit from US$64 million to US$107 million. The increase in Formula 1 revenue is due to eight races being held during the same period this year, compared to seven in 2022. This contributed to an increase in income from organising races. However, with two additional races outside of Europe compared to last year, logistics costs have also increased.

GR8 Tech has secured PCIDSS v.4.0 and ISO 27001:2022 certifications, verifying best practice regarding payments. PCI DSS certifies that GR8 Tech handles credit card information in a safe environment and adopts strong measures of financial data protection.  ISO 27001:2022 sets criteria for establishing, implementing, examining and improving an organisation’s information security protocols and ensures confidentiality, integrity and availability of data assets and digital processes.

DAZN has decided to broadcast all matches of UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage matches will be broadcast for free in the UK this season. The sports media company also announced that most group stage matches will be broadcast free of charge worldwide, with the exception of China, Middle East and North Africa. However, access to some matches on YouTube will be limited in France, Germany and Spain.

3 Oaks Gaming has achieved growth in the important regulated market of Bulgaria thanks to its latest content partnership with Alphawin. By integrating its gaming content with Alphawin, 3 Oaks will increase the visibility of its games in Bulgaria, making them accessible to the Alphawin audience.

NetBet Casino has announced its partnership with Revolver. As part of this collaboration, the best Revolver games are now available in the NetBet game library. Through this exciting partnership, NetBet players can enjoy exciting games from Revolver such as Irish Coins, Thor of Asgard and Badlands

REEVO has entered into a strategic partnership with ESA Gaming, an innovative provider of high-quality gaming products. By integrating ESA Gaming’s unique gaming content into the REEVO platform through a simple and user-friendly API, REEVO aims to streamline processes for its customers, delivering a seamless gaming experience for partners and saving them time and resources.

BF Games has strengthened its aggregation platform by accessing Tornado Games‘ gaming portfolio and integrating it into its content offering through the BF HUB. BF Games can now provide its operator partners with a full range of games from Tornado Games, including 22 unique slots under the BF Games brand. The partnership also includes the implementation of Tornado Games’ roadmap for releasing slot machines available to BF Games partners through an aggregation platform.

AffPapa and BetGoals have announced their new partnership. This alliance aims to improve the gaming experience and offer players more betting options. AffPapa, a popular online casino affiliate platform, is now working with BetGoals, a renowned sports betting service provider. Through this partnership, bettors can expect more games, better odds and a more convenient betting experience.

Slotegrator announced a new collaboration with F*Bastards, experts in creating high-quality slot games inspired by popular themes. F*Bastards, a young company in the game development world, aims to change the gaming landscape with its innovative solutions and fresh approach. It aims to reimagine classic slots by delivering high-quality games and cutting-edge technology while injecting its creative vision.

Betway is expanding its online casino in Africa through a partnership with BetGames. Following a previous content partnership agreement that included the brand’s lottery studio, the new deal will bring games such as BetGames Roulette, Penalties and Crash Game to Betway’s African online casino platform. BetGames Roulette offers a live casino experience with a user-friendly and intuitive interface, while Penalties is a game in a penalty shoot-out format with quick rounds and over 2,000 pre-recorded results.
