SBC CIS Editorial Team is happy to present a quick recap of the gambling industry events, news, regulations and partnerships that happened last week. 

888 Holdings terminated cooperation with FS Gaming Investments due to the UKGC warning on the suspension of the licence.  FS Gaming Investments is an investment firm owned by the former GVC Holdings executives Kenneth Alexander (CEO) and Lee Feldman (Chairman). Alexander and Feldman invited 888’s management to take part in the restructuring of the business, whose shares fell after the acquisition of William Hill last year. FS Gaming has proposed the appointment of Lee Feldman, Kenny Alexander and Stephen Moran as Chairman, CEO and CFO respectively at 888. However, 888 confirmed that the UK Gambling Commission had expressed concerns about HMRC’s ongoing investigation into GVC’s former Turkish subsidiary Headlong. The investigation has not yet been completed, but Entain’s  management believes that a “substantial financial penalty” may be imposed, the specific amount of which has not yet been determined.

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) announced the appointment of two key executives who will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with government agencies, tribal governments and regulators. Joseph Bunevith, who joined the company in 2021, became Vice President of Government Affairs and Regulatory Affairs, and Kelly Myers was named Director of Government Affairs. These steps are part of an expanded group that is focused on providing land, lottery and gaming organisations with “additional opportunities” to collaborate and interact with tribal and government agencies. 

Gambling.com Group relaunched Casinos.com, the publisher’s new affiliate site, which aims to become the leading and trusted resource for online casino player reviews. Gambling.com acquired Casinos.com in 2022 with a significant investment to grab the valuable domain name. The newly launched media platform will be optimised by Gambling.com’s SEO specialists and engineers to provide its audience with the most engaging and informative content on the world of online casinos.

The Committee on Advertising Practices (CAP) amended its code regarding lottery advertising with a focus on attracting young people under the age of 25. The amendments address specific advertising caveats, but CAP emphasised that these changes are intended to provide greater clarity to companies and will not affect their advertising policies and practices.

Svenska Spel reported SEK 4 million ($390,000) in annual net gaming revenue in Q2’2023. For the period ending June, Svenska Spel’s total net gaming revenue was SEK 1.97 billion, while operating income rose 3% to SEK 550 million, an increase of SEK 18 million. Svenska Spel sees a 6% increase in net gaming revenue for sport and casino verticals, driven by the popularity of pool games, good margins in sports betting, growth in online casinos and an increase in the customer base.

BetGames made Adam Lahouiri in charge of content creation. He will lead the group’s operations and will actively support a strategy to meet the changing needs of today’s players. Adam Lahouiri is tasked with an “ambitious rollout” of new content and explores ways to optimise the existing package and customer development tools.

Betsson AB’s subsidiary NordicBet, which specialises in betting services, announced the extension of its title rights to 1. Division Denmark. Under the new agreement with the Divisional Association, the governing body of the Danish Football League, the second division will retain the name “NordicBet Liga” for at least two upcoming seasons.

STS Group entered into a multilateral agreement with GKS Katowice to become the official sponsor of all four sections of GKS GieKSa Katowice S.A., including the women’s football club, ice hockey champions, the volleyball section and the first league men’s football club GKS Katowice. This cooperation is planned for one year, but both sides expressed their readiness to consider the possibility of its extension.

BetConstruct released Betting Terminal PRO, a new version of the Betting Terminal self-service software. The new touch screen self-service device now offers improved sports betting and casino software, 24/7 access and improved UX design. BetConstruct claims that the new version of the software provides everything that players loved in the previous version, as well as advanced features available to all BetConstruct partners.

EveryMatrix signed an agreement with WynnBet to offer content from the provider’s own studios, including Armadillo. WynnBet will receive content from EveryMatrix by integrating with CasinoEngine, the company’s gaming integration platform. Initial rollout of the games will begin in New Jersey with plans to expand to other US states.

Aviatrix and QTech Games announced the distribution of their new crash game across Asia. As soon as the game appears on the QTech platform, partner operators will offer it to their players under the Aviatrix brand. Aviatrix offers an addictive crash-style game where players bet on a virtual plane and collect an increasing multiplier until the plane crashes. In addition, players have the unique ability to create and customise their own aircraft through NFT mechanics.

Pragmatic Play expanded its partnership with Peppermill Casino by introducing a selection of dice slots in Belgium. Following recent agreements with Betara (Peru), win2day (Austria) and other regulated territories around the world, the agreement with Peppermill Casino is even more focused on casino gambling.

Lagio Gaming signed a partnership agreement with PopOK Gaming. Lagio Gaming Technology has the ability to support content developers as they specialise in creating unique and exclusive games for their platforms. Games developed by Lagio Gaming are optimised for mobile devices and are fully customizable for operators, which allows them to run advertising and marketing campaigns for specific player segments. 

Novibet, an online casino and sports betting operator, partnered with NetGaming to provide players in Greece with a diverse selection of games.

Pragmatic Play and Veikkaus Oy signed a partnership agreement that will allow Finnish players to enjoy 10 of the most popular slots from this provider. Veikkaus Oy is Finland’s leading gambling operator and operates lotteries, casinos and bets, offering a wide range of games in these three main categories. All profits received by Veikkaus go to support Finnish society. Thanks to this funding, the spheres of culture, sports, science, youth work, social security, health care and horse breeding are actively developing.

Spinomenal expanded its presence in Bulgaria through integration with Alphawin. After the successful cooperation in various countries, the new Spinomenal alliance will be completed through the Dench Solutions platform.

Evolution expanded its partnership with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation to provide two real-time high limit tables for players in various Canadian provinces. After more than five years of successful partnership, BCLC live casinos now offer their customers in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan the opportunity to enjoy high limit VIP Blackjack and VIP Baccarat games. These games will be streamed live from Evolution Studios in Vancouver.
